September empties
What started as an exercise to improve literary skills and place to store my memoirs 2 years ago (coincidentally on the birthday of my dear friend), became a relaxing activity and a joyful task. Lately I am only writing once or twice a month and most of those are about empties. While I like these posts, and writing in general, I would like to increase the frequency.
Anyway, for last month empties, I got very few products which got finished. However, I have quite a few things to write about them.
The Body Shop tea tree oil: My skin is very unpredictable (they say skin reflects health, apparently mine reflects my mind too). I have no idea what provokes a breakout - it stays perfectly fine when I travel to a place with a warm/humid or extremely colder climate from a moderate climate and a bunch of zits pops out when I stay at a same place with same lifestyle for very long time. There are very few products which would help me through breakouts and TBS tea tree oil is one of them - unless in extreme cases where I had to start with medication like what I got right now. Keeping the effectiveness aside, this product is a brilliant idea. Instead of keeping aside the products I am using and buy a whole new set of tea-tree based products, I could just a few drops of these in the cleanser/toner/moisturizer/face-pack I am currently using. The only product I cannot mix it with is the cleansing wipes, so I buy tea tree wipes along with this oil. If I have few painful ones growing bigger, I apply the oil directly before sleep and they calm down when I wake up next morning. I already bought another bottle of this and would like to try their tea tree BB cream next.
Lush Dream cream body lotion: I usually prefer Lush face products and TBS for body lotion, however, in this post they got reversed. I got it as a gift from from Australia - after UK, Australia is the best place to buy Lush products as the prices stay same unlike in Europe. Dream cream is extremely light weight lotion and I was initially skeptical if it would work for me as my arms and feet tend to get quite dry at times. Surprisingly, it hydrated the skin well. It don't have much of a fragrance, so it won't interfere or intensify the fragrance of body spray/perfume. They won't stay so long as they would if I layer, but not all perfumes I got have matching lotions. I didn't get any new lotion after it got over as I still got some of bath & body works lotion left and I am thinking of using TBS argan oil or Nuxe multi-purpose oil.
Kama Ayurveda vetiver face mist: I love face mists and always have one in my bag. I don't use them as alternative to wash my face, however, when I don't have chance to, these sprays come in quite handy. I first got it in Chennai to soothe my skin from humid weather and became a huge hit with my friends when we vacationed in Goa. It's quite refreshing and soothing especially while riding in scooters all day in sun. 50ml bottle lasted a while as I don't use it much in Bangalore. I bought FE panchapusp toner water now and it is more suited to Bangalore climate as it have some moisturizing aspect, however when I travel to warmer places, I will still prefer vetiver mist.
Those are the products for this month, and got a few samples too:
Tea tree overnight mask: Got this sample with TBS online order. Maybe its too less to show any impact, but I am not very impressed with it and it is quite expensive too. I am using tea tree oil with my origins sleeping mask and don't think I will be splurging on the mask.
Lush Mr Dandy Hair Candy: This is hair cream sample my friend gave me and I carried it in my bag. I didn't use it regularly, only when I need to touch up my hair in the evening. Cream light weight and have a unique fragrance I liked a lot. It is not moisturizing, but I don't think its meant to - probably to be used as hair mousse for hold.
Lush Kalamazoo: Another sample from my friend. Described as beard softener, it is designed for men but not specifically - it could be used by women as well. With texture and description, I thought it would be moisturizing but it was slightly drying. The skin feels bit stretchy only for a little while, but it cleans very well. I might not be buying it though
