Third Europe trip part 5 - Brussels

Image
Brussels trip was more like a filler stop, as we planned to take EuroStar to London. I thought there is only one airport in Brussels, however we landed in another airport which, I believe is in the outskirts and took us almost an hour bus ride to the city. There are buses to both Bruges and Brussels from the airport and we learnt that it would take the same time to reach both places.Had we known before, we would have planned to go to Bruges πŸ˜”. It was past 11 a.m by the time we reached our hotel. My card, which stopped working for online transactions in Milan, stopped working in swipe machines in Brussels - fortunately it worked till we paid the hotel bill at check-in. We planned to take 24 hour open top bus at around 3 p.m which would be ideal as our train is at 5:30 p.m next day. But with 10 € + 20 £ left in the wallet, we had to scrape that plan😞. After getting some food from super market and relaxing for a bit, we walked for 15 mins to train station in the evening where the ne...

My beauty wish list

I got a lot of things on my list by now: Some I wanted for no specific reason - Chanel mademoiselle body spray, lipsticks from Chanel (I wanted mademoiselle, but it didn't turn out the way I thought it would be), Dior and Mac (Creme in your coffee, which I waited so long to get) and Kheils midnight recovery under eye cream. Some because I read a lot about them - fake up concealer and porefessional primer from Benefit, Maybelline baby skin primer. Some influenced by few people I follow in You Tube (which happens very rarely) - Maybelline age-rewind eye concealer and Hawaiian tropic sun screen. 1. Laura Mercier corrector and concealer duo : I came to know about this brand, along with Bobbi Brown, when I am searching for lip stick Kate Beckett using in T.V. Show Castle (Until season 4 it was one of my favorite shows). I am not quite sure why I picked this product specifically, but i was in my wishlist for very long time. It is surprising I did not get this and it's not like ...

Third Europe trip part 4 - Milan

Image
The contrast between the 2 countries is uncanny - after 4 hours drive through lavish and polished Switzerland we entered Milan and felt funnily relaxed looking at graffiti filled walls and basic buildings with laundry hanging out from the balconies. The railway station and roads, though spotless and organized, didn't seem as clean as those in Swiss - can't quite put a finger on what aspect bought that enormous difference. Even so, I felt quite happy to be in Italy. May be its the movement - even fast moving trains in Switzerland seemed quite still and the vibrancy is only in the colors of flowers, whereas in Italy,  lets just say the beauty of flowers is not the first thing which would be noticed. Anyway, the studio apartment we booked is about 10 mins walk away and walking through the streets of Milan somehow reminded me of Hyderabad. It was way past 9 p.m by the time we reached the reception. I was relieved as there is slight delay in the train and check-in after 10 ...

Third Europe trip part 3 - Lucerne and Titles

Image
We left Geneva an hour later than planned which made us postpone the trip to mt. Titlis to next day - reaching Lucerne around noon, checking into hotel and another hour to Engelberg would only give us about 2 hours there which definitely wouldn't have been sufficient. So we decided to take an early train from Lucerne next morning and spend time at Titlis till 1 or 2 p.m giving us enough time to catch our train to Milan from Lucerne at 4:20 p.m. View from the train: After settling that plan, we started thinking what to do that day. Journey from Geneva to Lucerne took 3 hours with one stop at Bern - we considered getting down there and explore the capital but couldn't make up our minds before the train restarted 😌. Remaining options are to visit Interlaken or explore Lucerne. We had to walk for about 15 mins to the hotel. Walk to hotel and view from the room: After we checked into our room and relaxed a bit, a fresh thought of trying skydiving popped upπŸ™ƒ. We narrowe...
