Packing toiletries in hand baggage (to Bali)

Image
One of the fun-filled challenges is to pack for a trip - especially when travelling by economic flights and getting only carry on luggage allowance, it gets even more tricky. When I booked the flight to Bali with only hand baggage allowance it didn't feel like something to be worried about as I traveled around Europe with a back pack and, for warmer weather, there is no requirement for heavier clothes - couple of light dresses, shorts, palazzos, few tees/breezy tops and I am sorted. However, when it came to skin care and cosmetics I was somewhat lost. Even though there isn't much difference in my skin care products, my makeup collection got bigger since I had been to Europe which then comprised of BB cream, compact powder, eye pencil, mascara and lipstick. Listed below are the things I packed and my thoughts on their requirement: In zip lock bag : Essie nail polish: shouldn't have packed mint apple candy. While going I packed it in makeup bag instead of zip lock a...

Day trips from London #7 - Durdle Door and Bournemouth

Image
The day after Glastonbury tour, I set out to my next trip to Durdle Door and Bournemouth. I very much wanted to plan it ourselves however, since there is no train to Durdle Door, we were left with no option but to book with tour operator (My attempts to book a private tour also fell apart and I didn't check the availability of buses😣). It wasn't so bad as it was a small group - ours and one more small group. We gathered up early at our pickup point and, after 2-3 hrs of drive, reached our first stop. It was so foggy we could barely see 2 steps ahead and, with no hopes of getting into the water, we left our bags in the van.                     Our driver gave us the pick-up time and we walked to the cliff top from the car park. There were two sets of steps, one leading to Durdle Door and other to Man o' War rocks. Since everyone headed to Durdle Door, we decided to take other direction to Man o' War rocks. By the time we c...

Perfume collection

When I use sure deo, I remember my hostel in Mysore during training i.e., before I learnt smell have the ability to evoke memories - Fragrance of Body shop's Fijian water lotus shower gel reminds me of brief relaxation after a vexing day of work in Chennai and bath and the warm scent of body works cashmere glow adds to the nostalgia to winter in London ( I know most people prefer spring or even summer but I love winters even harsh ones which makes the skin crack 😍) I normally don't hesitate to buy eau de toilette and perfumes as they have high shelf life and I enjoy using them very much. Even while choosing cosmetics/skincare, fragrance play a very important role in my selection criteria. Perfumes are one of very few things capable of relaxing me, although that lasts only for a few seconds 😪. Having said that, I am more picky than usual about my perfumes and try them multiple times before buying them - life is too short to get stuck with wrong scent 🤧. As I got to tr...

Day trips from London #6 - Glastonbury and cheddar gorge

Quintessential English countryside, archeological wonders, castle for Royal residence and a museum, academically significant university city, pebble beach and pier - just when I thought how much more diverse our trips could be, came across this quite unique tour. After an unsuccessful attempt to book a private tour and concerned with limited weekends available before end of my assignment in London which also has to accommodate another Europe trip, pressure to make use of the time was building up and we planned 2 back to back trips for the weekend😫. Even though the temperature went up quite high that summer, it also enabled perfect weather for outdoors. On one of those bright mornings, we reached Victoria station for our coach to Glastonbury Abbey. I tried learning about the place but I got information in bits and pieces, something about holy grail and King Arthur🤔. However, I was quite excited to visit the place with such historical significance despite of the bad stomach cramp (...
