Perfume collection
When I use sure deo, I remember my hostel in Mysore during training i.e., before I learnt smell have the ability to evoke memories - Fragrance of Body shop's Fijian water lotus shower gel reminds me of brief relaxation after a vexing day of work in Chennai and bath and the warm scent of body works cashmere glow adds to the nostalgia to winter in London ( I know most people prefer spring or even summer but I love winters even harsh ones which makes the skin crack 😍)
I normally don't hesitate to buy eau de toilette and perfumes as they have high shelf life and I enjoy using them very much. Even while choosing cosmetics/skincare, fragrance play a very important role in my selection criteria. Perfumes are one of very few things capable of relaxing me, although that lasts only for a few seconds 😪. Having said that, I am more picky than usual about my perfumes and try them multiple times before buying them - life is too short to get stuck with wrong scent 🤧.
As I got to travel a lot last year, my collection of perfumes (along with cosmetics) got bigger and listed below are the perfumes/body sprays, currently in my possession:
1. Chanel madamoiselle: this was in my wish list forever along with it's namesake lipstick. The latter didn't turn out how I expected it to be and I was bit skeptical about spending so much on perfume even though I tried and liked it. So, as a trial, I bought the eau de toilette spray instead of perfume which came around 25£ that's less than half of 50ml perfume. It is by far the best I got and definitely going to get the perfume. I am using it sparingly, only on special occasions, to make it last longer - my precious 😈.
2. Body shop white musk libertine: I tried it during lunch break on one of our boring workdays, when 50% off sign in body shop pulled us in, and immediately liked it. My friend (majorly my shopping buddy) asked me not to buy it but on spending next 2 hours on call, holding the phone receiver and sniffing the scent more than listening to the discussions, I couldn't help falling for it and told my friend that I would get it promising I won't use it when hanging out with her. She then revealed that she got it as a birthday gift for me and, since I was so crazy about it, she gave it a month early. The greedy me bought a bigger bottle anyway 😁.
3. Ted baker body spray: I think it's exclusive to boots and they got 3 variants which doesn't have a name but different coloured bottles - blue, pink and white and available in 2 sizes. I bought the blue one in smaller size for 3£ and it is absolutely amazing 😍. I suggested it to many of my friends and one of them bought all the bottles available in the store 😄. Unfortunately, when I checked in boots store near my accommodation before leaving, they were out of stock and I didn't have time to check further plus I already exceeded my luggage allowance ( I still kept the empty bottle and sniff it occasionally😔).
4. Arabian nights: got this one from a small outlet, filled with vials, perfume oils and equipment to convert them to sprays, in Camden town owned by an Egyptian guy. He said he could recreate any well-known perfume - my friend bought their version of CK perfume and says it's stronger and lasts longer than the original one. I picked up the oil called Arabian nights and, instead of converting it to spray, got a vial for the authentic feel (the vial fell and the stem broke even before I got to use it 😔)
5. L'occitane cherry blossom: as much as I like L'occitane scents, cherry blossom isn't one of my favourites. However, I didn't pack my body wash while going to Paris (our flight only have hand baggage allowance and I assumed the hotel would be providing the body wash) and the pharmacy near our hotel had the cherry blossom travel kit and I couldn't resist. It turned out to be fine and is quite mild too - also, it is the only perfume I actually bought in Paris 😌.
6. Body shop English Gardina: the name says it all. I added it to my 'before returning home shopping list ' as soon as I tried and bought it during last week of my stay in London. There was an offer to shop for 15£/25£and get a scrub/gift pack worth same price free. I was delighted as the perfume RRP is 15£ and I also wanted to get a scrub. However, there was also store wide 30% off and my bill came down to 10£. So I added argan oil hand cream which was also in my list and newly launched pina colada body wash for my sister to get the free scrub 😁. The first thing I would suggest to anyone traveling to U.K. is to get the body shop member card - I initially hesitated to get one but with few purchases I was paying only half, or even less, price.
7. Dior absolutely blooming: I wanted to get a high end perfume in Heathrow duty free and, since madamoiselle is not even half empty, started screening for options for more than a month before my journey date narrowing it down to 3 - Dior poison girl, Estée Lauder modern muse and YSL Mon Paris. I very much loved Mon Paris but it used to smell different every time and got me very confused. So, when I entered the airport, I still wasn't sure which one to get. Then, while waiting for checking in my luggage, I saw the ad for Dior new releases, absolutely blooming and savage, playing in a loop. I tried absolutely blooming in duty free after the security check and bought it - nothing like a time crunch helps decision-making faster😑.
8. Bath and body works body sprays - Paris amor and cashmere glow: When my sister told me her friends asked if she wanted anything from US while they were traveling and she turned down their offer, I looked at her as if she did something unheard of. So, during thanksgiving, she asked me if there is anything I want and was speechless when I gave her a list without even thinking for a minute - she assumed 2 suitcases full of stuff from U.K and Europe would have made me content 😌. Bath and body works trio packs in my favourite fragrances were of course first in the list and I couldn't wait to start using them - but I have to finish my lush shower jelly so I could use the Paris amor trio together😎.
