A trip down the Tippu's lane

I quite enjoy taking my mom to historically significant places. When I was in school, she taught me about Mohenjo-Daro and Harappan civilization along valley of river Indus and ancient Egyptian Civilization on the banks of Nile river. I hoped to visit those places with her, however, I am not quite sure when and if that is going to be happen 😔.
Being in Bangalore for almost 10 years, I always felt bad I never visited Bangalore fort and Tippu's summer palace 🙄. So, on long weekend of Karnataka's formation day, I went to these places with my parents.
Tippu's Summer palace seemed too modest for a palace. It is surrounded by gardens in two sides. The ground floor is like a veranda held by pillars on front and back. Top floor could be accessed through four staircases and mostly comprises of a corridor with small balconies at the end of stairs. On one side there are rooms and we wondered how such great rulers could stay in such small rooms😯.

Bangalore fort is few mins by walk from the summer palace. Major part of it is demolished and only a section of the fort remains today.

Coincidentally, we visited Srirangapatnam, the capital of Mysore kingdom when it was under the rule of Tippu Sultan, the following day.
I visited Srirangapatnam few times before and passed by the death place of Tippu but never actually stopped here. Apparently this is where his body was found along with other soldiers.

Then we went to Jama Musjid which is quite near - another place which I passed by but never visited.

From there I wanted to visit the tomb of Tippu Sultan, but our driver took us to yet another summer palace instead which I already visited before😥. This palace is turned completely into a museum (unlike the one in Bangalore where only a small section of the palace houses the museum).

Finally, I looked up the Tippu's Burial chambor called Gumbaz on-line and got there.
Its a typical mausoleum which housed, along with Tippu's, many of his family members' graves.

The main chamber contains grave of Tippu along with his parents' and right outside the chamber are the graves of other prominent family members like his daughter, aunt etc.,

His wife's, however, is located away from the main chamber - I wonder why🤔.

I took this picture while exiting the place, with the moon next to it, seemed like an apt shot to indicate end of a story - kinda like in TV show or movie 😊.

Before going to Gumbaz, we visited Nimishamba temple and I thought the river next to it is Sangam - place where 3 channels of River Kaveri merge.

But the map in Gumbaz indicated that it is bit away from there😧.
We ended the trip with visit to Ranganathaswamy temple which was scheduled to be the first stop in our trip, but it was way past noon when we reached there, the temple was closed till evening.

I am quite glad I finally got to visit the places which are quite near and kept away for years💃.
