Hair care

My hair is very much low maintenance - it falls a lot due to stress and pollution and there isn't much I can do about it, but I meant the texture and styling. All it takes is a wash good masque/conditioner and nice dryer followed by a serum and my strands fall in place. I wasn't actually good with conditioner nor dryer, sometimes they just work on fluke. On special occasions, I wouldn't leave it to chance and visit a salon.
Few weeks ago, I was traveling to attend my friend's reception and went to a salon to get my hair done. It was raining heavily, the power was off and their back up failed 😰 - I had to start to the airport in ~ 6 hrs and planned on cooking spaghetti bolognese for dinner. On a leap of faith, I started getting oil massage and luckily power came back. I got my hair washed, conditioned and blow dried- once done, I checked in the mirror and felt for the first time that I could have done better - that's when I wanted a record of my current hair care process🤓.

1. Hair oil: I didn't use hair oil almost for an year and half as someone told not apply hair in cold climate. But I recently bought a bottle of cold pressed coconut oil and restarted oiling my tresses. However, I did not find it ideal for scalp as mine is already oily and confined it from mid length to the ends. I got Biotique flame of forest for scalp which is light weight and seemed good for scalp, only to realize it's formulated for colored hair and is also ideal to apply on rest of my hair 😯 (especially since I got my hair colored). Anyway I apply it twice a week - once on scalp with coconut oil on rest of the hair, another time on rest of the hair with hair treatment on scalp.

2. Shampoo: I wash my hair twice a week and I use two different shampoos - read somewhere it's good to alternate shampoos to remove build up created by other 😌. Currently using hibiscus shampoo, I got from a department store in Munnar, and Big from lush, which is over now 😭.
3. Hair treatment: once a week, mostly over the weekend, I like to apply a pre-wash treatment/mask on my hair. Currently I'm using my favorite Roots cream from lush every alternate weekend and being lazy on other weekend 🤗.

4. Conditioner: I sometimes use it once a week, mostly once in 2 weeks (or is it 3🤔). I'm not very fond of conditioners, but got used to them during my no oiling phase. I currently have Aussie one for colored hair.
5. Heat protection spray: I avoid hair dryer most of the times and let my hair air dry - not for the benefit of the hair, I am just lazy 😜. I got Tresseme one which I am using for more than 18 months - mostly because I am not using it frequently, but I used it a lot in the beginning and during winter.

6. Hair styling sprays: as I couldn't find hair sprays in India 2 years ago, I got a lot of them in London. First I got Aussie and also started using Loreal spray for colored hair after I got my hair colored.

7. Hair serum: while I use sprays on normal days, I use a serum after using hair dryer. Currently using body shop solid argon oil. René furturer hair cream/John Frieda serum while travelling. Rene one I also use when I want my hair to smell good 😍.
8. ACV Rinse: I am trying the apple cider vinegar Rinse recently. I'm yet to figure out the right proportion for my hair, but I liked the results of latest Rinse. My scalp didn't feel oily even after 3 days post the wash - in fact it felt like I washed it on that day 😮. So far I used it once a week and without conditioner, but I will do more trials.

9. Drying equipment: I have Morphy Richards dryer and Roots brush to dry my hair. It took a lot of practice to get a handle on the process 😊.

Just realized I started this blog exactly a year ago, coincidentally on my friend's birthday 😀. Happy birthday Muks🎂🍾🎁🎈🎉🎊.
