Lip products - currently in use
My lips tend to dry very often and I had the habit of peeling the dry layers off when I am occupied or nervous. Result - pigmented lips. To make up for the damage, lip products ooccupy major share of my skin care/makeup collection. Listed below are the lip products I am currently using and few thoughts about them.
Starting with lip balms:
Maybelline baby lips: all time favorite. Don't remember how many of these I went through - I rarely repurchase lip products but this one is a frequent buy.
Burt's bees lip balm: I believe this is the very first purchase from boots (along with Dr Palmer cocoa lip balm which got damaged when I forgot it in trousers pocket and washed them in machine 😥). I use it during night as it's non tinted and have no SPF. It's provides good moisture without feeling heavy - in fact it don't even feel like anything is applied.
Body shop Shea lip butter: it's quite common to get lip balm in most offers or skin care kits. I got this in 3 for 2 offer along with strawberry body polish and Shea butter hand cream. In this case I could have picked something other than a lip balm, however, as I reached London in peak winter I wanted to make sure I got enough lip balms. Even though I quite liked it initially, it gradually felt heavy and formed white lines. I used it during nights for a while and stopped using eventually.
Monoprix: randomly picked it from a super market in Paris for 2 or 3 euros. It's very light weight - feels like nothing is applied, got a nice subtle tint and I believe it got some SPF too. Should have bought few more..hmpff.
Next to lip glosses:
Nyx lip gloss ginger snap: I am not a big fan of lip glosses. Most of them feel heavy and some light ones dries my lips out. However, I do like the shiny glossy look they give. I came across this nyx counter while strolling in Selfridges with my teammates and realized I never got anything from nyx. Out of habit I was drawn to lip products. I already got more than enough lip balms and struggling to finish up the lip sticks. So, went for a lip gloss. Ginger snap is a darker shade of brown, it's have nice even finish and don't dry out the lips. Even though I don't use it often, I don't regret buying it.
Clinique chubby stick whopping watermelon: not quite sure if it comes in lip gloss category. I use it more like a balm when serious moisturization isn't required. Got this one in sample size in a travel kit (one of the promotions from clinique). Initially worried pale pink color might not suit my medium complexion, however, it would settle down in few mins without getting high lighted. It's quite handy when I want bit more than a lip balm and something less intense than a lip stick. If I repurchase, would go for a darker color.
Coming to lip scrub:
Clinique sweet pot pink framboise: (no special reason for separate pic. Forgot to add in first pic and was too lazy to assemble the products again.) Though my lips need extra care, I didn't think about lip scrubs. When I had to pick 2 products to get free travel kit, I got this one to try out. The scrub is quite mild yet effective, however, I liked the balm more - it got nice glossy finish and very mild tint. Even though it made me realize importance of scrubbing, not quite sure I would like to spend that much on lip scrub. Well, I have good enough time before I had to think about that as it would last for a while.
Last but not least lipsticks:
Mac verve: it is the best lipstick I ever tried. It's so light weight, wouldn't dry out the lips and looks quite natural. I loved it so much that didn't want to buy any other brands. However, that resolution dissolved when I got access to so many brands, particularly luxury ones, for lesser prices during my travels. Still it remains my favorite and once I get to finish up the unopened products I would get to Mac.
Bobbi Brown lip color soft rose: when I was half way through verve, Mac increased the lipstick prices, Bobbi Brown opened the first store in India in Delhi. I did an intense online research, chose the shade and asked one of my friends visiting Delhi to bring it for me. My delight turned to disappointment as the shade didn't suit my skin tone and I am not quite impressed with the formula - it's not very moisturizing and tad bit drying. I couldn't just ignore it given the amount of effort and money that went into this product, so started using it with a good lip balm. Surpirisingly, an hour after applying, it looked a lot better. Also, I tried few other lipsticks from Bobbi Brown in Europe and there are amazingly smooth and creamy. Guess, buying lipsticks with online information needs more expertise. For now, I am going to store and try them out before buying.
L'Oréal color riche maple mocha: this one I purchased online from nykaa during one of its sales. Unlike previous online experience, this one fared quite well. However, the bullet broke quite soon, probably during the journey.
Dior guipure: my first Dior purchase. Got this one from duty-free on ferry from Paris to London. Initially wanted to get Chanel lipstick and don't remember why I went for Dior instead (probably because it was 3 in the morning, lack of sleep, timezone difference or all together). Anyway, it is a lovely color and, even though pigmentation isn't high, it have a polished glossy finish and is extremely light weight.
