Day out in Venice

While most people I know get their travel inspirations from movies, I get mine from books. I believe an imaginative brain could create a picture better than any camera would. Needless to say, it could also lead to major disappointment when the actual place fail to live up to the dreams and that possibility bothered me a lot when I started for Venice.

May be because Merchant of Venice probably is the first Shakespeare's story I read, may be because it is famous for my most favorite food (gelatos), may be because of my love for water - not exactly sure why I was crazy about Venice and when it started, but visiting Venice is on top of my bucket list (well, I did not have a bucket list yet, but if I made one, I know visiting Venice would be on top).

The mere thought that Venice might not live up to my expectations is so terrifying for me that I pushed it back until I boarded the train from Milan to Venice. I was excited, nervous, lost, delighted - ufff, as if all possible emotions are racing to surface.
(Characters in the romantic movies might have felt the same way when they are about to meet love of their life for the very first time😆)

As soon as I came out of railway station, I breathed a sigh of relief and a big happy smile replaced everything else I was feeling until then.
Venice is exactly how I imagined and it only got better!!!

Walking down the narrow albeit beautiful streets embroidered with cute little shops and colorful markets, fresh aroma of food churning hunger in the belly already filled with gelatos, sweet music complimenting warm afternoon air, crossing those small bridges almost at every turn - it felt like I'm walking inside the story book and truly is a dream come true.

After a pleasant gandola ride followed by hearty meal and visit to St. Mark's square, it's time to head back to railway station. Cursing myself for booking the stay in Milan, I made a promise to Venice - I would be back as soon as I can and then it would only be you.
